Launch!

Well hello.

This is our ode to the golden age of video games – an age where a quarter (or 10p piece) was enough to launch you into an entirely different world… for a few minutes at least.

Back then, the only way to play games (at home) was a Pong video game console, or perhaps (later) an Atari. Arcades were an escape… a place where you could fight aliens, gobble ghosts, and do battle with malicious centipedes. If this resonates with you… you may feel at home here.

For a long time we’ve been frustrated with online games websites. There’s a lot of them, so you’d think there’d be some really good ones. But finding the good ones, turns out to be rather difficult.

The problem with most games websites is they feature too many games. That may be what some people want, but from our viewpoint the idea of sorting through thousands of rubbish games to find a few good ones, seems a little bit of a waste of time.

So we set out to create something new – a place where only the best games make the cut.

Every game on this site is hand picked, painstakingly researched, so you can be assured that the version we present or link to, is the best that can be found anywhere on the web.

None of the games on this site have annoying pre-roll ads, and every game is presented in full screen. We developed unique technology to do this, and it’s really rather cool.

Over the coming months we’ll be adding more retro gaming title to our collection. For now we kick off with the true arcade classics – Pacman, Space Invaders, Frogger and Asteroids. We’re planning to add Donkey Kong, Q-Bert, Tetris and Pong next.

Follow us on Twitter or like us on Facebook and we’ll keep you updated as we launch new games. Better still, connect with Facebook to leave a comment below (or anywhere on the site), and we’ll email you as new games are released. We won’t stuff up your inbox with stuff, and you can unsubscribe easily any time.

Please enjoy our new website… SmashingArcade.org – The Retro Games Arcade™

If you would like to suggest a game to add, you can do that too.
